Agricultura Social para Idosos
O projeto FarmElder tem como objetivo oferecer aos agricultores a oportunidade de se envolver na agricultura social.
A agricultura social é uma forma de terapia que é definida por Di Iacovo e O’Connor, 2009 como “atividades de curto ou longo prazo que utilizam recursos agrícolas tais como animais e plantas para promover e gerar serviços sociais nas zonas rurais. Exemplos destes serviços incluem a reabilitação, terapia, emprego, educação ao longo da vida e outras atividades que contribuem para a inclusão social”. A partir do nosso envolvimento coletivo na agricultura social identificámos uma oportunidade de relacionar os benefícios da agricultura social com as necessidades das pessoas idosas.
O projeto FarmElder visa oferecer aos agricultores a oportunidade de se envolverem na agricultura social. Para os agricultores já envolvidos na agricultura social, o FarmElder irá proporcionar-lhes formação sobre como trabalhar com pessoas idosas. Ajudá-los-á a associar-se a novos prestadores de serviços e defensores e a aumentar o perfil do seu trabalho.
